Well the surgery went well. I stayed overnight in the hospital afterwards and I was glad that I did. Most gall bladder patients get to go home a few hours after the surgery, but my doctor likes to keep his overnight for observation. I was pretty happy about that. I was kind of nervous about coming home with four holes in my belly!
While I was there, a few doors down from my room was an older guy. Oh my goodness I was pretty irritated. He kept yelling, "Somebody help me! Somebody help me please!" then a nurse would come into his room and he would start yelling and make them leave. Two minutes later, he would do it again. It literally went on for about two hours and after a while the nurses just started ignoring him.
Anyways, I am healing pretty well now and I can finally use 'some' strength in my ab muscles again. I couldn't for the first few days and rolling over in bed was pretty excrutiating. However, I am THRILLED that I will never again have a gall bladder attack. Because those seriously made me feel like I wanted to die!
I'm having to be careful about holding Claire. She tends to kick me right in my belly button incision so it's difficult for me to hold her the way we are both used to. However, I'm learning to carry her on my left side (all my incisions are on the right side) and I've gotten her to sleep in some pretty uncomfortable positions. ;)
