Crying it out

Well we're a little late but we just started having Claire cry it out at night. Now, I don't exactly just leave her alone! I keep going into her room and rubbing her back and talking to her very softly.

The first night she cried for about an hour and a half and then slept straight through for about 6 hours. Last night she slept from 8-5:15 this morning. I got about 6.5 straight hours of sleep and it was amazing. It's been at least 3 months since I have gotten a good nights sleep. I was still a little tired but much better rested than normal. Before this, she would sleep for about 3 hours before waking up screaming.

Last night when I put Claire to sleep, she didn't even cry a little bit. I hugged her and sang to her for a few minutes and then laid her down and rubbed her back. I didn't hear from her for the rest of the night.

I'm kind of sad because I love rocking her to sleep but I know this is for the best. *Sigh* my little girl is growing up.

She has three teeth right now, but I can see three more just underneath the gums.

  1. So hard to do, but worth it for the sleep! Although it sounds like she did awesome. :) It's ok to spoil her (or you) every once in a while with not just putting her down, too!

  2. i cringed when i saw this title...not because of letting her cry out...we did the same with caleb and it worked for him...but because there are people who have key words like cry it out, circumcision, bottle and formula feeding automatically sent to their inbox....then they send mobs of people over to attack!

be careful with this one! :o)

and yes, it does work- if done in the right way (which it sounds like you did)! I'm glad you had success! :o)
